Welcome to Gepetto Toy Craft
Established in 1980 Gepetto Toy Craft is a New Zealand company specialising in the manufacture of wooden toys for babies. Our manufacturing process has been perfected through the years to now produce the highest quality product based on traditional European craftsmanship, combining safety and style in a long lasting wooden toy designed to stimulate and entertain.
The wood used in Gepetto's toys, is the locally grown sycamore maple - a readily regenerating species we harvest annually for toy production. Typical of the maple family this hardwood is non-splintering, strong, durable and well recognised for its excellent turning and finishing charateristics. After about 12 months air drying the milled sycamore is ready for turning on one of three wood lathes to produce all the turned components used in Gepetto's toys. Further processing and finishing, colouring and assembly, are all completed in Gepetto's workshop.
Home for Gepetto is the town of Alexandra in southern rural New Zealand.
Gepetto's range of wooden toy's have been designed for babies up to 12 months of age:
- Enabling them to use their hands and mouths to explore;
- Stimulating awareness of sight, sound and touch; and
- Developing hand and eye co-ordination
High quality toys that incorporate:
- Materials selected for strength and safety;
- Smooth finish, no sharp edges or metal protrusions;
- Colours guaranteed non-toxic and saliva resistant - tested to European Specification EN 71 Part 3 / Part 9;
- Designs developed and tested to meet international toy safety standards; and
- Durable and washable (do not boil or soak for long periods)
